"Amazon Erases Orwell Books From Kindle"

The following article basically elaborated on how the shopping network Amazon, deleted the book
1984 by George Orwell. I totally disagree with this act done by Amazon, because customers of Amazon purchased this item, and it was deleted various editions of the book. I hope that in the future Amazon thinks twice before deleting purchased merchandise from customers.

Winston's Work

Winston's work title was a being a dominant figure on the Sports Committee.
His work environment is noisy, unorganized, and the roof was leaking.
Kids run around the office, causing trouble and making loud noises. The work
environment of Winston is unorganized because important documents and files are misplaced.
The inside of Winston's working environment is constantly wet, due to the leak of the roof.

Winston's work and work environment affect him by all of the work tasks which he has to complete in certain amount of time.

Party Slogan Reflection

War is Peace
-Peace exist when violent outbreaks occur, such as war.

Freedom is Slavery
-Freedom is centered around everyone wanting whatever their desires are. If this were to
happen slavery would somewhat exist, but with a different outlook.

Ignorance is Strength
-Being ignorant teaches people lessons about possibly daily life experiences and situations.

1984 Setting Analysis

Settings

1. Posters are displayed everywhere throughout Winston's apartment, which resembles
the face of a man's eyes gazing at you. A caption is listed beneath the picture which states Big
Brother Is Watching You. This particular picture would give the reader an uneasy feeling
about the atmosphere.

2. Once Winston enters the Victory Maison Apartment he immediately smells the stench of
boiled cabbage and old rag mats. This particular stench probably sets Winston's mood as
being disgusted. The reader would probably be unable to bear this smell.

3. A telescreen talks about the latest updates on news stories in Winston's apartment. The
telescreen is able to pick up the faintest sound that can be made. Knowing that the telescreen
is able to hear and pick up the faintest noises would likely sets the reader's mood to be
somewhat paranoid.

Question

1. How does this setting affect Winston psychologically?

The setting described in chapter one affects Winston psychologically by being somewhat
paranoid. Winston is afraid to live in his apartment building. He becomes paranoid at several
times, and thinks that someone is out to get him.
